Biodiversity Project from Our Department Aligning with COP31 Objectives

The project prepared under the leadership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nihal Kenar and with the partnership of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zeycan Helvacı, faculty members of Aksaray University Department of Biology, has been accepted by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

The project, titled “The Future of Biodiversity in the Steppes of Central Anatolia Under Climate Change: Identification of Climatic Refugia, Risk Areas, and Conservation Priorities for Plant Communities and Steppe Mammals,” aligns with COP31’s goals of combating climate change and protecting biological diversity. Addressing the mutually reinforcing impacts of climate change and biodiversity loss, the study aims to identify climatic refugia, risk areas, and conservation priorities for plant communities and steppe mammals. The project is expected to contribute to climate change adaptation strategies, the protection of natural habitats, and the development of science-based environmental policies.

We congratulate the project team and wish them a successful research process.
